To One in Sorrow

Let me come in where you are weeping,
And please allow me to hold your hand.
I have known a sorrow such as yours
It helps me relate and I can understand.
Allow me to give you a word from God,
Words that were written in His book.
A word, a verse or line for you to hold
Until this grieving time shall slowly pass.
For God says He will wipe away our tears,
When next we meet again on that far shore,
When all our grieving with be at an end.
In the joy of knowing He loves us more.

Allow me to hold you and wipe away
The tears I see there in eyes so full.
When I have lost fine words to say.
Let me do something, and so to show
That none of us want loved ones to go.
Lord let my words be not maudlin or trite,
For I know that we will all face the night,
And grieving times are not always the same
It does not mean we ever forget their name.
But raw feelings lessen as does the pain.
We grieve not as those who have no hope
We will meet again and that helps us cope.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:55 ~ Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?
  • John 5:24 & 25 ~ I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word, and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and will not be condemned, he has crossed over from death to life. I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself so he has granted the Son to have life in himself.
  • Psalm 139:8 ~ If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there, If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
  • John 16:20 ~ I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.
  • Luke 23:43 ~ Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:1 - 4 ~ Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with out heavenly dwelling - so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing what is to come.
