My God and I

My God and I walk slowly hand in hand.
Upon the sea shore, so firm is the sand
It shifts not, under our moving feet,
As we smile at everyone that we meet.
There is no worry during our morning walk.
As the sun strikes the sea we happily talk.
No beauteous sight will you ever see!
God allows His Spirit to commune with me.

The tide advances swiftly, but no fear have I
For I can hear a solitary gull’s strong cry.
The eddy of wind can let him soar free.
Surely any dangers the Spirit will see.
I walk only by faith and not by my sight.
Trusting God for my future, all seems bright.
Oh yes storms may come on life’s choppy seas.

But you will handle them best upon your knees.

Philippians 4: 6 - 7 “Don’t worry about anything, instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Complaints

Winter’s sky alas doth oft reach down.
Clouds roll in which causeth us to frown.
Gird your loins, and guard your minds.
Satan works harder when depression he finds.
If your mind is craving some Summer sun,
His interest in your thought life hath just begun.
He offers complaints on a golden platter.
You pass them on and it starts to really matter!
At the end of yet another long and  dreary day,
You finally need to sit down and start to pray.
What doth surround us the question of “Why”?
Satan feeds your mind, being so subtle and sly.

The more you look around the more it seems grim.
Soon enough you begin to grumble and that is a sin.
You are now aware bitterness and strife is part of you.
Friends avoid you now because they know it is true.
Complaints that began with weather suddenly grow.
You start to look around you, judging people you know.
Complaints about inclement weather caused you to sin.
Discontent is now rampant, see the state we are in!
But, stop and consider, where did it all begin?
If your attitude starts to change because of “no sun”
Take your eyes off the world and praise God’s Son.

Psalm 42:45 - 6   “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again --my Saviour and my God.”

Joy in Loving

It is in loving, not in being loved,
The heart is blest.
It is in giving not in seeking gifts
We find our final quest.
If thou art hungry, lacking heavenly food,
Give hope and cheer.
If though art sad and couldst be comforted
Stay sorrow’s tear.
Whatever be thy longing and thy need,
That do thou give.
So shall thy soul be fed, and thou indeed
Shall truly livest in joy.

Colossians 3: 18 & 19 "Wives be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them."
2 Peter 1:7: “And in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, Christian love.”
I Peter 4:8: “Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.”
Jude 21:21 “Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.”

Deuteronomy 6:5 & 6: “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” “And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.”

Inwardly

Thou lovest the very worst part of me.
Thou seest the person You want me to be.
My life is laid bare before Your eyes.
His aim is ever to fill my heart with lies.
I confess, will  not regress, and will him defy.
You are my father forever, still after I die.

Your judgement is sweet before the confessional seat.
Rid Satan’s pestilence before it causeth my defeat.
Given chance, he fills my mind with filth and lies.
He urges me to rid myself of guilt and compromise.

Enticing me to forget my God, despite all He has done for me.
I commandeth him to flee from me in Jesus name for I now see
That he has fear at the mention of Jesus’ name and His blood.
The Bible is clear to me, Christ gave me His lifeblood.

I thank thee Lord for leaving us your Spirit guide.

You speak to me and tell me forever You are by my side.

Lifeblood: The blood required to give us life.
Romans 8:11   “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you.”

Completing the Journey

Years from now your journey will be complete.
Years from now your heart will not be heard.
It will cease its faithful beating; all is silent.
Years from now your body will renege on healing.
Years from now your eyes will grow dim .
Years from now we will look on life as a passage.
Every stage should bring us closer to God and heaven.
Years from now age will have completed its cycle.
From baby to child, adult to senior life will changed.
As it changes our confidence will grow for we will know.
What God says He will do will be done, His word is true.

Years from now heaven will seem so much closer.
Years from now you’ll find yourself longing for home,
Years from now this life will not feel comfortable.
Years from now you will awake as if from deep sleep.
You will find yourself in heaven, burdens vanquished.
You will run up to the Saviour and fall at His feet.
There is no fear for God is here with all that know Him.
But we will meet him on the other shore and we will know.
It will be worth it all when we see Jesus, all questions answered,
For He will wipe away all our tears and time will be no more.

                                       Amen

Christmas Rush

Rushing and pushing from home to work,
But there is one thing you must not shirk
Stopping to take time out of your busy day
To draw close to God and take time to pray.

Forget all the things that need to be done.
And worship, lifting praise to God’s Son.
Our Christian world has become a race in time.
Sometimes at Christians we need a STOP sign.

Our priorities become jumbled, we need to decide
If we’re too busy for Christ we’ll surely backslide.
The Spirit will call you to take time to pray,
But if you keep ignoring Him each busy day

Soon His voice is quiet and you are in a place
Where you are ashamed to look upon His face.
Don’t let the rush of shopping be all the worth.
Happier you will be focusing on Christ’s Birth.

Christmas Is Coming!

Christmas is coming, you can tell by the stores.
There are the lists of the “wants” and the “mores”.
New ideas from last year, better inventions to offer.
More things to entice you to open up your coffer.

Flyers and catalogues come flying through your door.
All of them crying buy more, and yes, you need more!
You look at the pictures and they are hard to ignore,

That is just what all the retailers are hoping will start,
“You see with your eyes and you want with your heart.”
Decorations are all up, listen, the music is blaring!
You see, this type of Christmas gets so very wearing!

The ringing of the ‘tills is what the sellers all need.
Now that expensive promoting has planted the seed.
Their profits are their concerns not your bank book.
Once you walk in the stores they have you on the hook.

You’ll find you are thinking more about abundance now.
And it flits into your mind like its planted somehow.
Could it be that Satan likes this early Christmas too?
Taking the thoughts away from Christ and onto you.

If he can but steal away a few lax brothers and see
If their wallets are out at each retail store, there will be
Little money left to send to missions or to help the poor.
He’s won again this year and his count is up once more!

It is his Master Plan to take Christ right out of Christmas,

That way everyone can join in and they just call it Xmas!
