My Husband, My Forever Love

My love is so patient, attentive and kind.
He forgives me; the hurt leaves his mind.
He laughs, crinkles his eyes, throws back his head.
I’ve been ill but he puts me first, and waits instead.

He wakens from sleep if he hears I am up,
And he serves me tea in my favourite cup.
He fixes my jewellery and washes my hair.
He always calls home when he cannot be there
.
We pray together holding each others hands.
I tell God I am hurting, my love understands.
He will hold me, pray, and cry when I cry.

Life is not fair; I didn’t want life to be like this!
Never questioning, always believing, I get a kiss.
I wake in the morning and he has been up for an hour.
Praying and reading the word, his “Hour of Power’.

Forty-eight-years, mere children they said.
Confident at how miraculously God has led.
This “Calamity Jane” would do it all over again.
This man, peace and contentment his living refrain.

My Valentine, my love, none can compare.
I don’t see the wrinkles or the grey hair.
In sickness and health his promise to me.
Is more valid now as you can easily see.

I looked for a boy who always put God first,
Hungry for God’s word, and oh such a thirst!
I’m more in love than ever with this gentle man.
On this Father’s Day his wife is his number one fan!

Ecclesiastes 4:9 - 10 “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. The other one can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. “

Romans 12:9 - 10 “Don’t just pretend to love each other. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good, Love each other with genuine affection. And take delight in honouring each other.”
